CUPERTINO, CA—Claiming that he completely forgot about the much-hyped electronic device until the last minute, a frantic Steve Jobs reportedly stayed up all night Tuesday in a desperate effort to design Apple’s new tablet computer.

Phoenix Coyotes finally win the flippin' cup in DC... →
They were victorious over the Hoyas students … who promptly called all of their fathers, pooled their inheritance money and purchased the Coyotes from the NHL as retribution.
If nothing else, this fan interaction reinforces that NHL players are the most down-to-earth and awesome amongst pro sports athletes; and then the majority of them will absolutely school you in an organized drinking...

Saints' win brings overtime rule back into focus →
We’ve long believed that the NFL needs to change the overtime rules. And we’re convinced that it will happen only after the sudden-victory concept operates to permit a team to win a high-profile game without the opponent getting a crack at the ball.

Shaq Misses Entire Second Half With Pulled Pork... →
O’Neal, who scored 12 points and grabbed three rebounds during the first half of the game, returned to the bench at the beginning of the third quarter, clutching at the pulled pork sandwich and informing trainers that it was incredibly tender.

It really all boils down to focus, and it seems like the key to focus is doing what you’re most passionate about and finding a vocation where distractions that tempt you might simultaneously supply valuable knowledge for your work.

TechCrunch: Apple’s Secret Cloud Strategy And Why... →
Just in time for my passage into the under 1 GB territory on my iPhone!
tayloransley:
This is a really interesting (and seemingly informed) take on why Apple acquired one of my favorite companies, Lala. Most people assumed the Lala acquisition meant that Apple was planning an eMusic-esque subscription service; not so, according to this analyst:
As Apple did with the original iPods,...

These descriptions of sound effects are fascinating. A favorite:
Star Wars’ T.I.E. Fighter: The roar of the evil Empire’s fighters (the name stands for Twin Ion Engine) is actually the roar of an elephant. To add some length to the sound, Burtt layered
in the buzz of his car driving on a wet road.

Adidas Originals 2010 Spring/Summer Star Wars...
thetickr:
Okay we admit, we’ve never really been huge Star Wars fans but we’ve always had respect for the brand and it’s epicness. However, the Adidas Originals 2010 Spring/Summer Star Wars Collection caught our attention! Darth Vader said it best, “The Force is strong with this one.”
The collection for the first season is split into three packs — The Characters Pack, the Vehicles Pack and the...

“I’m not sure exactly what he does, but I think he said he works at this place where he makes these calls to people for these events,” said Fisher, who added that, from what he can tell, Alford works anywhere from 10 to 60 hours a week.

O'Ree became NHL's first black player 52 years ago... →
Cool article about Willie O’Rhee, first black NHL player.
One of my favorite things about this article is how clearly ‘hockey’ it is. Almost everyone interviewed barely mentioned race, choosing instead to celebrate the man’s skills (his wheels were apparently quite notable), his work ethic, and his character. How can you not admire the humility of the sport of hockey?

cnet’s The Next Big Thing: I Want My IPTV
Very interesting look at where streaming video content is now, and where it could be going from the minds of telecoms, cable companies, device makers, and innovators.

Perhaps a romanticized view of college, but taking the analogy in stride I think the point stands.

How to Be a Rad Stereo Kid →
# 4 Fix your MySpace. Have a clean layout, with lots of bright colors in the background, stereos all over the place, writing, gore, brass knuckles, and stuff like that. Put pictures up of you sitting on a stereo and write stereokid fersher for the caption. The best thing about being stereo, is it’s OK to say you’re stereo. If you were scene and said it, you’d be a poser. just...
